Steve Shapiro is committed to helping families send their kids to college
-- without breaking the bank or risking their own retirement.
Steve is a Certified College Planning Specialist -- one of less than 500 in the
entire United States, accredited by the National Institute of Certified College
Planners' (NICCP). He has completed a rigorous series of courses to learn
the best ways of obtaining college funding that fits a client's income, goals
and lifestyle, and he remains current with Continuing Education courses every
year.
Steve has always been motivated to help individuals and small business owners
keep more of their money through legal and ethical means. He has been a
CPA since 1982, an Investment Advisor since 1990, and a Certified Financial Planner
since 2002. He became interested in planning for college in 2002, when
his own two children were in high school. "I feel my clients' pain," he
says. "I know just what they're going through."
Steve's began his college career at the University of Minnesota and completed
his degree in accounting at Cal State Northridge. He ran with the bulls
at Pamplona, Spain, and worked as an electronics technician to help pay his own
college bills. Now Steve appreciates life in California's Santa Cruz County, where
he enjoys walking on the beach with his wife, hiking, and golf.
College planning allows Steve to combine his 20+ years as a tax and financial
advisor.
"Retirement and college planning must be considered together," he says, "because
funds used for college planning will not be available for retirement."
